Who works on your file

Answering a notice well needs two different things. The records have to be reconciled so that the figures can be established, and the position then has to be put on record in a form an appellate authority will accept.

Our team of Chartered Accountants, Advocates and domain experts covers both. You are told who is working on your matter, and the same people continue through rectification, appeal and any penalty proceedings.

What we do

  • Reconciliation of the AIS, Form 26AS, books and bank records before a position is taken.
  • Drafting of replies with annexures indexed and cross-referenced, written on the basis that they may be read again on appeal.
  • Submissions in faceless assessment proceedings on the income tax portal.
  • Rectification under section 154 where there is a mistake apparent from the record.
  • Appeals to the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), with a stay application for the demand where that is warranted.
  • Defence of penalty proceedings under sections 270A and 271.

FAQ

Common questions

Who will actually handle my matter?

A Chartered Accountant for the computation and the reconciliation, and an Advocate for the drafting and any representation, with domain specialists for GST and cross-border matters. You are told who they are and can speak to them directly.

Can you represent me in a faceless assessment?

Yes. Faceless assessment is conducted through written submissions on the e-filing portal, so the drafting and the annexures carry the matter. We prepare and upload the submissions, answer each query raised, and ask for a video hearing where it would help.

Do you handle appeals?

Yes. Where the order contains a mistake apparent from the record we first apply for rectification under section 154. Otherwise an appeal is filed with the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), generally within 30 days of service of the order, and penalty proceedings are answered separately.

How are fees worked out?

Filings are quoted as a fixed fee based on the complexity of the return. Notices and representation are quoted for each proceeding once we have read the papers, so the cost is known before the work begins.

Will you tell me if I do not need to engage you?

Yes. A number of intimations under section 143(1) need nothing more than an agree or disagree response on the portal, and some demands have already become time-barred. Where that is the position we will say so.
