Working out your position for the year ahead: which regime applies, which deductions you can support, and what advance tax falls due in each quarter.
Tax planning servicesWe read the notice, identify the section it has been issued under, and prepare a reply with the supporting documents it calls for. This covers both income tax and GST notices.
How notices are handledReturn preparation and filing for salaried individuals, professionals and businesses, checked against Form 26AS and the Annual Information Statement.
Tax filing servicesResidential status, income that is taxable in India, treaty relief under a DTAA, and TDS on the sale of Indian property by a non-resident.
Tax on inherited assets, the records needed to establish cost of acquisition, and the compliance involved in transferring property or securities to heirs.
Submissions in faceless assessment, rectification under section 154, appeals to the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), and penalty proceedings.
The same four steps apply whether the notice is a routine intimation or a reassessment.
Share the notice by email or WhatsApp. We confirm which section it has been issued under, which assessment year it relates to, and the date by which it has to be answered.
We go through the filings and records for that year to work out what caused the notice and what the department is asking you to establish.
We draft the response, assemble the annexures it refers to, and file it on the income tax or GST portal.
We track the proceeding until it is closed, and take it further through rectification or appeal where that is needed.
Our experienced team of Chartered Accountants, Advocates and domain experts helps you successfully handle any statutory notice.

Read it carefully and note three things: the section under which it has been issued, the assessment year it relates to, and the date by which a response is due. Then collect the records for that year, including Form 26AS, Form 16 or 16A, bank statements and proof of any deduction claimed. Our guide to income tax notices sets out the process in detail.
It depends on the section. A defective return notice under section 139(9) commonly allows 15 days, and notices under sections 142(1) and 143(2) usually specify 15 to 30 days from the date of service. The deadline is stated on the notice itself. If more time is needed, a request has to be made to the assessing officer in writing before the date passes.
Not usually. Assessments are faceless and filings are made online, so most of the work is done over email, phone and video call. Our office is at Sowcarpet in Chennai if you would prefer to meet in person.
Yes. We first establish your residential status for each year under section 6, then determine what income is taxable in India for those years, apply treaty relief under the relevant DTAA with Form 67 where it is available, and file the pending returns. See NRI tax filing for more.
Yes. Scrutiny of returns in ASMT-10, intimations in DRC-01A, show cause notices in DRC-01 and input tax credit mismatches are all handled alongside income tax matters, so the position taken in one is consistent with the other.
Where the order contains a mistake apparent from the record, a rectification application under section 154 is the first step. Otherwise an appeal lies to the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), generally within 30 days of service of the order, and any penalty proceedings under sections 270A or 271 are answered separately.
